Printmaking

I was allowed to try out a new medium of art and design, printmaking. For me, being in a printmaking class was a wonderful experience. I loved seeing how graphic design can relate to a physical medium such as printmaking.

For one of my projects, I did a color reduction print using a linocut. I decided to make a Brook Trout the focus of my print due to its bright colors and my love for the outdoors. I used Illustrator to lay out my layers, design, and colors.  For each color, I would carve away part of the lino and then print.

For this print, I ended up printing 7 layers and pulled 20 prints in total. This means I used the printing press around 140 times for this project. This project was a great insight into how color interacts and the printing process.
